BJ Penn knocked Matt Hughes

Almost immediately after former UFC Lightweight and Welterweight Champion BJ Penn knocked Matt Hughes out in the co-main event of UFC 123 last weekend, it was announced that the Hawaiian scrapper would next be matched up with perennial welterweight contender Jon Fitch.

"BJ's a legend. Having only fought two separate opponents in his five fights at welterweight (Georges St. Pierre and Matt Hughes) with his only victories coming against Hughes, it is unclear how Penn will match up with other top-tier 170-pounders. Fitch understands that, but also understands all of the tangible and intangible factors that come along with facing BJ Penn that always ensure the Hawaiian is a dangerous opponent.
"That always puts him in every fight.
You've got to beat a legend to become a legend, so this is a great opportunity for that."

"If I'm able to utilize my wrestling skills to put BJ in disadvantageous positions when I fight, then I'm going to do that."

"As long as I'm getting tough fights, I guess I'll be happy.

Rampage vs Machida main event

That’s what was on nearly everyone’s mind following the UFC 123: Rampage vs. Machida main event on Saturday night in Detroit.

“That fight was so close, it was unfair for Machida,” he told Joe Rogan after the fight. As time dwindled in the opening stanza, however, Jackson started to find his range, landing cleaner and harder shots than Machida.
Machida was still elusive, but Jackson did a better job finding his mark.
Jackson was surprised when the scorecards announced him the winner by split decision.

Machida was also humble after the fight, albeit in a more subdued manner than Jackson.

A close examination of the recently released Rampage vs Machida fight video seems to support the controversial split decision which gave the victory to Rampage Jackson over Lyoto Machida.

Machida was wrestled down by Jackson and Jackson fell at the end of the round when Machida surprised him with a stinging combination.
